Sweet and Sour Chicken

Over the years I’ve worked hard to feed my family wholesome meals that are easy and cheap, but most importantly delicious. With that being said, we still love, love, love Chinese food. You may think I’m about to say its healthier to make Chinese food at home and that’s why I’m sharing this recipe. Honestly though, we would rather save our Chinese takeout for Honey Chicken and Mongolian Combination, which is the reason we make our Sweet and Sour Chicken at home.Sweet and Sour Chicken What would you rather buy at the local Chinese take away and what would you rather make at home?

  1. In a sandwich bag or bowl add cubed chicken, 1 and a 1/2 Tablespoons corn starch and 2 Tablespoons soy sauce and shake/mix until the chicken is coated.
  2. Using mini bowl chop onion, ginger, garlic on pulse for 4 seconds.
  3. Using stir assist add oil and heat 120°C for 1 minute.
  4. Add chicken and brown for 120°C , 7 minutes at speed 1.
  5. Add onion, ginger and garlic and cook 120°C, 2 minutes at speed 1.
  6. Add pineapple pieces and cook 110°C, 3 minutes at speed 1.
  7. Add pineapple juice, remaining soy sauce, remaining cornstarch, apple cider vinegar, tomato sauce, sugar and sweet chili sauce and cook at 110°C, 3 minutes at speed 1.
  8. Serve with steamed veggies and rice or cous cous.
